Instructions for the correct adjustment of binoculars
A well-adjusted pair of binoculars is one of the most important pieces of equipment for hunters. Not only does it provide a clear and detailed view of the target, it also increases the safety and effectiveness of the hunt. Correctly adjusted binoculars reduce eye strain and allow you to fully concentrate on your surroundings.
Instructions for adjusting your binoculars
Before starting the adjustment, make sure that all external controls of your binoculars are in the correct position.
With glasses: Lower the eyecups by turning them in to fully to reduce the eye relief. This ensures that your glasses are not in the way and that you can see the entire field of view clearly and without vignetting.
Without glasses: : As everyone's eyes are different, the ideal distance to the focal point varies from person to person. Only turn the eyecups out until you have raised them enough to find the right eye relief for you. This ensures comfortable use and a full view without dark edges.
Why the adjustment of the eyecup and the optimum eye relief are important
Correct adjustment of the eyecups and eye relief is crucial for comfortable and effective observation. It ensures that the entire field of vision is utilised, the eyes tire less quickly, and a clear image is seen.
Adjusting the width
The next step is to adjust the width of the binoculars to suit your eyes:
- Hold the binoculars in front of your eyes and adjust the bridge so that you see a single, clear image.
- Make sure that you do not see two images or two overlapping images. If this is the case, the interpupillary distance is set incorrectly and must be adjusted.
Setting the focus
To achieve optimum sharpness, follow these steps:
- Close the right eye: Look through the left eyepiece and turn the centre drive until the image is sharp.
- Close the left eye: Open the right eye and adjust the dioptric correction on the right eyepiece until the image is also sharp.
- Open both eyes: Adjust the focus again with the centre drive to ensure that the image is optimal for both eyes.
After these steps, your binoculars are individually adjusted to your eyes. You should now be able to enjoy a clear, sharp image with minimal eyestrain.
