GERMAN CHAMPION WITH MINOX
His father taught him how to safely handle rifles and shoot with open sights as a child. After many years in motorcross, Michael Gemballa finally rediscovered his love of shooting. Today he has numerous successes in various dynamic disciplines and relies on his MINOX products. He tells us how this came about.
I achieved my first sporting successes with an old small-calibre match rifle, until I finally learned how to use a rifle and scope successfully in Field Target with all the associated possibilities for use and adjustment. I then started with large-calibre rifles and tested and compared different optics with each other to find something suitable for future use.
An advertisement for the MINOX ZP8 1-8x24 in a magazine piqued my interest. The MR10+ dual image plane reticle, featuring a first image plane reticle with red dot in the second image plane, was unique and suited my shooting disciplines very well. The ZP5 line from MINOX was also very interesting and so I decided to get in touch with MINOX. Looking back, that was one of my best decisions in the shooting sport, because it resulted in close communication with the company that continues to this day!
After much testing and experimentation, I realised that I like the fast, dynamic disciplines of shooting sports where speed under time pressure and precision are important. As a result, I have successfully shot almost everything; whether it's multi-distance, speed, falling target (what is falling target?), time series or precision in calibers .22 lr, 9 mm, .223 Rem., .308 Win. and 12/70. Since 2016, I have successfully participated in many championships in precision disciplines, in which all disciplines are shot at distances from 50 to 850 metres, and have been on the road with the MINOX ZP8 and ZP5 in 3-15x50 and 5-25x56 in various disciplines and classes. I can always rely on my MINOX optics – the precision and accuracy remain, even after hundreds or sometimes thousands of shots! That gives me a great sense of security.
My first German championship title in 2018 was a very special moment for me, which I was able to top again in 2022 thanks to the many titles I won. When I'm not at championships, I like to go hunting with my SAUER 101 and a MINOX riflescope.
